An imagined soundtrack for an imagined film, NINE was my attempt at a score for feature-length film. Based on the Dyatlov Pass mystery of 1959, the music accompanies a (made-up-story, in my head) group of nine real-life hikers who went missing, and later all found deceased, in the Ural Mountains of Russia.

I’d been fascinated with the mystery, cover-ups (allegedly!) and theories of what happened to these nine souls for such a long time that I felt I needed to express something, to do something for them. Once again, in my head, I never had a real resolution of what the music was to say about the story. In fact, as time has passed, I think that I still don’t have a conclusion or idea to what really happened to them, and one of the final tracks on the album is titled what I have come to believe: And We Will Never Know.

My songwriting partner, Patrick Sporrer, contributed his talents to the closing, bonus track (which would play over the end credits), Scrying the Mountain’s Pass. We hope you enjoy.
